LFA Good Food Film Program: 3/9 The State of Arizona Farmland

Local First Arizona’s Good Food Finder Film Program is hosting a monthly series on the state of our food system and other food action issues.  Read the details and get your tickets online here. They launch the event on March 9th with The State of Arizona Farmland, covering the devastating situation our very own Blue Sky Organic Farms is currently facing.

The Arizona landscape was once a sprawling view of farmland and ranches; however, as residential and business developments continue to expand at alarming rates, Arizona farmland is quickly vanishing.

Meet husband-and-wife team, Sara Dolan and David Vose, farmers who have been farming since 1995. Their farm, Blue Sky Organic Farms, supplies fresh, organically grown produce to farmers markets, Valley residents, food banks, and schools.

Kate Radosevic, Friends of the Farm Coordinator at Arizona Food Bank Network, and member of the Arizona Farmland Coalition discusses how the loss of this farm and the implications of our dwindling farmland can impact and weaken Arizona’s local food system, as well as what is being done and what you can do to safeguard our local farms.
